As a short summary, I will explain the situation as I figured some basic knowledge is required before proceeding with the article.
The word “PewDiePie” in the headline refers to a channel on Youtube. PewDiePie was the most subscribed channel on Youtube until a channel called “T-series” appeared out of the blue.
” T-series” is an Indian channel that shares music videos and movie trailer from Bollywood media. With the ease of internet accessibility increasing drastically among the Indian population(over 1.3 billion) it was just a matter of time for them to surpass PewDiePie. Some eager fans of PewDiePie tried taking actions against T-series, but they failed.
After presenting a summary of the essential information, now I will continue on the elements of this event that interested me the most.
The PewDiePie propaganda, which expanded far more than my expectations, was a great example of customer loyalty. The fan base, careless of the cost, even booked time on live TV shows to “spread the message”. In addition to that, the printer hack, which is the main topic of this article, was a fail as T-series is the number one channel now. but more importantly, I thought discussing the topic “why it is not a good strategy to use printers as a way of advertisement is inefficient.” seemed like a good way of peaking into the marketing chapter.
